IN YOUR FACE NORWEGIAN CUSTOMS!
To explain the title of this post: Before I went to the crash-course in the Russian language I ordered two cd's from
Deep Elm Records. The Cd's were
Settlefish -
The Plural Of The Choir, and
Latterman -
No Matter Where We Go..! both got to under 200kr which is the the limit here in Norway for things we buy abroad from the internet. So I went to Finnmark knowing, that when I got home, there'd be a nice lil' package waiting for me.
However, when I got home there was a letter for me from the Norwegian Postal Service. It told me that I needed to pay 230kr to get my package because it needed to go through customs (not sure if I'm translating this right, but whatever). I sent a mail to them saying that I needed a further explanation on why I needed to pay extra seeing as it was all under 200kr. And surely, one day later, my package arrived and it had clearly been opened and stapled shut again. Not even a "Sorry, we we're wrong, hope it didn't cause any inconvenience". And my Latterman CD got a crack in the cover because they weren't careful when they stamped on something that said "Not to go through customs". Utter bastards.
Anyway, I'm just glad I got the cd's in the end, and now that I listen to Latterman I realize that a crack in the cover won't stop them from being a "super-awesome" band. Definitely worth checking out.
