And now... The end of my story about the crash-course in Russian
PART 2!
THE CONCLUSION!
SHOULD I WRITE THIS WHILE HOLDING SHIFT; OR WHAT?? NO? OK THEN!
Alright, what happened next? Alexander didn't come to class or breakfast. We didn't manage to wake him up before we got our first break of the day. After he'd gotten breakfast, he came down and stayed there until our second break, and then he said that he felt sick and then he didn't come to class for the remainder of our stay. He'd basically decided to not go to Russia, but he still wanted to stick around. That day we also had our first joint-class with the Russians. I mostly talked with Sveta and she asked me if I had anything I wanted to learn in Russian. I of course got a total mind-block, but it didn't matter because she had loads of things she wanted to know, and suggestions at things I should know. They wanted to know bad words, how to say "I love you", how to buy things, and all sorts of stuff. Then Sveta told me that in class, their teacher had said "Slapp av, Olga" (Which means "Relax, Olga") and in Russian that's nearly the same as saying "Stop bitch, Olga". That was kinda funny. They had all sorts of words that they would laugh at when we where talking Norwegian amongst ourselves.
Apart from that almost everything was the same each day. All until the last one. That was when we all gathered in the lounge-area to eat pizza and talk. And because of my big-mouth (I mentioned that I play the guitar) Olga shoved the guitar that hung on the wall at the lounge-area into my arms, and demanded that I played something. In front of like 12 people. I've barely played for more than two people! I got hella-nervous, but I guess I had to try, so I stumbled through "Glade Jul", a Christmas Song that I sort of know. It was nerve-wracking I tellsya. At this point the people started to walk around a bit. I sat with Sindre and Ane. They were in the coach, and I sat in a chair on the other side of the table. And then Sindre just lay down on the coach with his head in Ane's lap. Seemed to me like he was making a move on her, and so I left not wanting to disturb, or even be there. I'm just mentioning that because something hilarious happened later on in the evening revolving Sindre making a move on Ane.
So I left them alone and went to my room. Before this last night there'd probably been about four other persons at the hotel, but now there were coming a buttload of people, for some sort of derby-thingie happening nearby. I stayed in my room to about 22:00 or something, and then I decided to go out again. Now Alexander and Camilla had joined Ane and Sindre in the sofa and they were playing cards. A game called "Idiot". So I joined in. Sindre still seemed like he was trying to get something going with Ane. He apologised when he made her take in cards (a bad thing in "Idiot") and put everyone else down when they got a bad hand. Then after about 6 games (I won twice, and got a 2nd place, a 3rd, a 4th, and a 5th in case you were wondering) an old lady, she said she was 59, came out to us and asked us what we thought of her boots. At this point she seemed normal, she said that she had asked her daughter what she thought of them and she'd said they looked stupid, so she thought she'd go out to the other "youths" and ask them what they thought. We all said they looked mighty fine, and assumed that she'd walk away to her daughter. So at this point we noticed that she was kinda drunk. She hung around and talked to Alexander, saying things like "I live alone you know, *winkwink*" T'was kinda funny. And then Ane leaned forward or something to adjust her sitting-position, and Sindre used this opportunity to take his arm around her. Then the old lady asked "Oh, you're lovers, are you?" and both Ane and Sindre went tomato. Alexander, Camilla and myself just started laughing out loud as this old lady continued. Ane and Sindre both said no, but the old lady kept going "No I can see that you are, he's holding his arm around you. He has it in is eyes and his face. Romantic feelings." Alexander was nearly falling off his chair , Camilla tried to stay serious but couldn't, and Sindre just smiled at this old drunk lady, completely tongue-tied. When the lady finally left we could get back to our cardgame. I knew that Olga and our Russian teacher were playing cards in the kitchen, and that's where the drunk lady went, so I just knew that something would go down there. Sure enough. Moments later Olga stumbled into the bathroom nearby sounding like she was crying and laughing at the same time. Apparently the drunk lady had stood outside the window behind the russianteacher so that she could see her cards, and had made it out in signlanguage what she had. Apparently Olga found it so funny she nearly collapsed. She came and sat with us because she needed to eat her Cheese Doodles, and she was pretty high-strung I tellsya. When she heard that the old lady came she tried to hide in her chair, and when she saw her she had to keep from laughing out loud. You know the way you force down a sneeze or something? It was like that just with laughter. Hilarious... I guess you had to be there, eh?
Then nothing happened really... We all stayed up late. Ane leaving for bed a couple of hours before the rest. I ended up playing a Swedish card-game with Olga called Hey Jack! You split the deck between the players, and then each player has their turn to put down a card from their stack of cards. Some cards had a meaning: If a 10 was laid down you had to slap your thigh/knee, a Jack you had to say Hey Jack!, a King you had to do a salute (now that was painful in the end), a Queen you had to say "G'day, Queen" and if an Ace came you just had to smack your hand on top of it first (also painful). The point of the came was to end up with all the cards. Olga beat me the first round when I was learning. And after that, Camilla joined for a game. Me and Olga got rid of her fast, and then it was down to the two of us again. It was pretty, frickin' even and the game lasted about 2 hours nearly... Or maybe it was closer to 1 hour and 30mins, but still... Mid-game she told me that she'd never lost at that game before, and I guess that kind of fueled me up a bit, because I ended up beating her. She didn't like that at all. Was kind of sad, but I don't lose on purpose, that's just bad sportmanship. Haha.
The next morning we left and I started get that feeling you get when you know you won't see someone for a long time, and that you know that you're going to miss them. All the people there turned out to be very alright and I hope that we can get a reunion going. Luckily I'm going to Arkhangelsk with Ane (not to the same school though) so that I can keep in touch with one of them at least.
I guess this was all quite uninteresting, but it had to be done. Closure!
Bye
