  You're where I want you.
Goddamn...

I have to apologise for that last post. Frickin' painful reading. I don't know how I could've written such an awful piece of text. I'll do my best now to not screw this one up.

The Quart Festival: Wednesday.

This day didn't really have a whole lot going for itself. The Mars Volta were supposed to headline the smallest scene, but they cancelled due to sickness. I only had one band I definitely wanted to see, and that was Animal Alpha (Norwegian band). Other than that we ended up seeing a few concerts on some last minute decisions. Anyhoo, let's start the show.

Animal Alpha!

Hot damn I was looking forward to seeing this lot play! I bought their EP about a month before the Quart-festival and it was/still is an incredible piece of music. The entire band entered the stage (minus Agnete teh sing0r) and started jamming something I hadn't heard before. Setting the mood I guess. And then Agnete enters the stage, looking hella crazy. She had her regular face make-up and white dress. But she'd made her hair look more out of control than I'd seen on pictures from other concerts, plus she had a small black bowler hat that seemed to be glued on or something. One other thing she had with was a cigar that made her look a little bit extra crazy. John hadn't heard anything of them before (right?) and I looked over for his reaction, and he was just laughing like the rest of us. Laughing in awe that is! Agnete greeted us by saying "Ladiiiiies and gentlemen! We have a fiiiine show for you here today." and some other stuff I can't recall. In the beginning they mainly played songs I hadn't heard before, and it was really goddamn good. Can't wait for their debut in September. The first song they played from the EP was Big Surprise. Right about then I felt very lucky to be attending that show, and I couldn't wait for them to play Bundy (the single from the EP). And sure enough, maybe one song after Big Surprise, the bassist started playing the intro to said song. I got a little bit of goosebumps right until the climax of the intro where the guitars come in in full. And a bit into the song, I don't remember which part, I was just covered in goosebumps! It was soooo good, so f*ckin well played! Agnete jumping up and down the stage, the two guitarists playing like mad-men, and on top of it all, right when there's a stop/start-part in the song, a rainbow of shiny stringy things were fired from a canon, and it was simply glorious! There were quite a few songs I hadn't heard before, and in my ears it was all quality. As I said earlier: Can't wait for the album.
As requested by my whiny brother: I rate this concert 1 out of 1. It was simply that good.
What? Do you have a problem with my one-point scoring system? Well, up yours then!

Ok, it was a 6 out of 6, 10 out of 10. What more do you want? Simply stunning performance... Now buy the EP or die. It's like oxygen, food, water and internet combined. RUUUN!

Otherwise we just chilled the entire day. Oh, we also saw Stonegard but I don't think I'll give them a review. Seeing as I'd only heard two songs by them before everything sounded the same. But they seemed to be really nice blokes for metal/leather-pants sort of people. And they had a few funny moments: During soundcheck the singer asked "Is Karsten here?" at that point I was a bit far from the stage so I didn't bother shouting out, but some other guy closer to the stage did, and the singer replied "You're not Karsten, goddammit". Damn straight! That made me laugh loads. They also had trouble getting people to the stage, and it was a shame really. Charismatic blokes like that need more attention.

We also caught a glimpse of The Game. He played my favorite song of his album The Documentary (I've only heard through it once, but there's one song on there that's fucking tits, as Josh Homme would put it), and he also invited some meathead onstage to drink with him. I guess we only heard about 4-5 songs before we headed back to camp to catch some shut-eye before the shows of tomorrow.

Rhumble In Rhodos, The Beautiful People, The Bravery, THE FUTUREHEADS and Foo Fighters... A long frickin' day so we needed some extra energy to make it.

See you all tomorrow.
