I will surprise you sometimes/ I'll come around/ When you're down
'sup.
I just realized that my last post was very naughty-body-parts related, and I don't think I've had a post like that before. Must've been a spark of creativity/innovation, seeing as I usually just spit out the same crap over, and over, and over... and over. Enough of that.
I bought two new records this weekend(nothing new there): Auf Der Maur and her self-titled debut, and Interpol's Turn On The Bright Lights. Debutant-Weekend! Alright!
I haven't listened to Melissa(Auf Der Maur) yet, but I think it's a solid debut-album, or at least that's what the critics have said about it, but on the other hand I have listened to the 'pol(Interpol) so I guess I'll write a few words about that:
I think I first heard Interpol on MTV or something back in 2002, and I remember that I thought it was pretty happenin', but alas at that point in my life I wasn't as caught up in buying records as I am now so I left it at thinking it was a happenin' band.
Now, nearly three years later, I spotted this album on sale at Platekompaniet(Norwegian National Record Store) and I thought "What the hell" and bought it, along with Auf Der Maur which was also on sale.
When I sat down at the computer earlier this Saturday to listen to Bright Lights I was very pleased. The album seems like it wasn't a waste of money, not that I considered that to be a possibility in the first place, and I think I'll be listening to it a lot in the weeks to come. Maybe it'll take Million Dead off the throne of Most Played CD At Karsten's Crib. Well either that or I'll have to hide the Million Dead record so that I don't listen it to death. It's soooo good! Arrgh!
Back to Interpol. What caught me a bit by surprise was the opening track Untitled. It sounded like a song that you put on at the end of an album for a bit of a lullaby-ish closure(I've only listened through the entire album once so I could've gotten the wrong impression), but I think it opened very well for Track 2, Obstacle 1. I'll have to get back to you on this particular matter.
Other than that I'll have to give the record a couple of more spins before I truly make up my mind about it. Let's just say I'm not regretting spending money on Interpol's music... yet.
What else is new...? Let me gather my thoughts for a minute. I got a 5+(which is about the same as a B+) on my oral test in Religion. The topic was New Age and similar new religions. I was pretty stoked to say the least. Other than that not much has been happening.
My older bro is home for the weekend and he brought the Head Automatica-album Decadence with him. I must say it sounded pretty hot, and it's a good possibility I'll spend a few dineros on that band in the future.
Ah, I almost forgot that we had a lot of people from different universities at school this week. Meaning that there were people trying attract us to go to their school when we finish what we're doing now... It seems like I'm never going to figure out what the word for the type of school I'm going to now is in English##$£@¤!. Whatever school you go to when you're 18.
Anyway... I was thinking about the University in Tromsø, or NTNU in Trondheim. One is down south, and the other is up north. Either way I'm definitely studying languages. Not so that I can become an interpreter or something like that, but because that's what I'd like to study. I don't have my heart set on anything specific career-wise, I just want to study something I can be bothered studying. Sure I could take some economics-class or something just to secure my future a bit, but I don't think that'd be the right decision for me at this point in life. There's plenty of time studying for a career when I turn 30.
Enough about the future. Let's talk about the present. The present me is... tired and wants to go to bed, and get through The Da Vinci Code once and for all!
Snoochie Boochies, my hatas.
