Baby is this love for real?
Thanks to my brother for putting my nose in the direction of Head Automatica's website and the 4 songs they're streaming from their debut album. The title of this blog-entry is from the song Beating Heart Baby and it's a wonderful song!
Head automatica!
It's good stuff, I swear.
Day 2: "Comic-book-guy voice"- Greatest Live Band...EVER!
I forgot to tell that I saw someone who looked just like Jack Black on Day 1, but I was too scared to chase him down to ask him if it truly was him. I also saw someone who looked a lot like Jack Osbourne, but I think that was because of my lack of glasses. Anywho, another day, another great musical experience.
Kaada: This Norwegian cracker was truly an awesome surprise. I thought it was going to be a bit of a laid-back concert, but it was the opposite...sort of. He's usually to be found on Mike Patton's Ipecac label, but for his latest album he changed labels because he didn't think the "sound" of it fitted Ipecac's "sound" or something like that... That was how I interpreted it so don't take my word for it. Kaada himself reminded me of Jim Carrey, in the way he carried himself(I don't know if my thoughts are converting into proper words right now, but it's cool) so that was fun. I'm now a Kaada-ist and I might go down to Trondheim to see his other band, Cloroform, with my bro. They're supposed to be even better. Wickedness.

Before I review the next concert I would just like to thank someone:
Mark Lanegan thank you for being forgetful, thank you for forgetting to renew your passport, but most of all: thank you for coming late forcing the Oya-peeps to put you on after Bobby Conn & The Glass Gypsies in stead of being on at the same time as them. I owe you loads.
But now to the concert that never can be bested:
Bobby Conn & The Glass Gypsies: F*ck David Beckham. F*ck Brad Pitt. Bobby Conn is the sexiest man alive. He even pulls of wearing blue eye-shadow with a tennis-outfit. And for all of you with raised eyebrows out there: I say this with complete security in my own sexuality. When I heard that my brother really wanted to see Bobby Conn, I thought that was cool until I saw that he'd be playing at the same time as Mark Lanegan. Fame over the unknown, eh? So I would rather see him, right? Thank the powers that be that Mark is a nimcompoop. I came to the Bobby Conn show with no expectations at all. It wasn't until I saw the band entering the stage with tennis-outfits that I started thinking that this might be a fun show. The bass-player looked like highway-patrol-officer gone tennis, which might be a look I'll try to emulate when I start my bass-playing days...maybe. The lead guitarist is officially my new guitar hero! He looked like one of those cheesy 80's shredders, with the long hair, and the ugly Ibanez guitar. I think Bobby Conn's Glass Gypsies is the only band that can pull of having a guy like that in their band. Bobby Conn himself looked like a man on a mission. He never looked down at the crowd, he just looked towards the horizon all the time which was awesome. I don't know why... it just was. They started rockin' from the first chord, except for one ballad. I must've been smiling the whole show because it was sooooooooo fantastic! Bobby Conn had the coolest face when he was rocking out on his guitar, and he was very funny too. I recommend everyone to go see him whenever they find it possible! As he said: "We're taking over the world". And if he(and his band) does shows like that every time I wouldn't be surprised that world-domination happens very soon. I rate it:
THE BEST CONCERT EVER!
After the gig I couldn't complete a sentence for like five minutes. I was so surprised! The first thing I managed to say was: "Where do I get a CD?!" So we went to the CD-Tent so that I could buy myself his first album, it's the one without The Glass Gypsies, but I'm getting the one with them ASAP. Now it was Mark Lanegan's turn.
Mark Lanegan Band: Yaaaaawn. This was as un-enthusiastic as it gets. I know he's supposed to be all about the "I've-got-a-dark-cloud-over-my-head-and-I-need-to-look-like-shit"-image/attitude, but he just comes of as a complete tosser. He came on and did a 30min set, and then he went off. The crowd cheered for more(I don't know why, because it was booooring) but he didn't bother taking the time to play anymore. Well I could care less, because me and my brother decided to go see/hear the last few songs of Silver's set the minute he walked off stage.
I rate it:
Boo! Hiss! Yaaaaawn...
Savoy: Now this was something I didn't have too many expectations about either. I'd just heard a few songs, but nothing to get all giddy about, or umm, the-opposite-of-giddy about. They came on played a good set, smiled and had fun. And one of their songs had the coolest bass-line ever! Plus the bass-player was friggin' hot! She looked like Claudia Schiffer only hotter. Öya is a summer-festival and this music fitted very good.
I rate it:

The National Bank: This is Norway's first Supergroup. USA has Audioslave and we have National Bank... Woopdeedoo. Their concert was their first ever, and I was kind of looking forward to it seeing as I liked their single "Tolerate". But I didn't think that it would be the only song to stand out... Very boring. In 10 years I can say: "I was at National Bank's first concert you know." And the person I say it to will reply: "Who?"
I rate the concert:
! !
Tungtvann(&Manna): I decided to see Tungtvann over Velvet Revolver, seeing as I'd seen one of their concert online and I knew that they were very good at pleasing the crowd... This time that was barely the case. The reagge-group Manna had gotten time from Tungtvann's set to open for them, meaning that Tungtvann's set would be shorter. This was highly unecessary. Manna was nothing out of the ordinary and it wasn't until Tungtvann entered and Manna left that thing started to get funky. Tungtvann is possibly one of the best Norwegian Rap-Acts to see live. But they had too little time to connect with the crowd. So I left the concert with a bittersweet feeling. I rate it:
! ! ! !(that's Tungtvann's set).
And now ROCK N' ROLL!
Mìnus: This Icelandic 5-some must be Rock n' roll incarnate. They played the smallest stage as the last band of the day, and they rocked. Hard. I don't know what else to say...
I rate it:
ROCK N' ROLL, BABY!
The last day comes tomorrow.
